		<description>Having done a brief stint in the US, I'd add one other thing to note on cultural norms is that if you drink alcohol at the sort of levels most Brits do, you will be quickly classified as having a drink problem, even if it's not to your face. Tone it down a little and expect to be visiting coffee shops and ice-cream places instead of bars.</description>

		<description>I've just returned to the UK after three years living in the US. I suspect I would have been happier had I been in a big city (with less sprawl and more cultural activity) but in the end decided returning to London was the way to go.

My understanding is that US law says you don't need a Social Security Number to get a bank account, but that most bank staff aren't aware of that so think they're bending the rules when actually they're just following them. I had an account for several months before I moved to the US and there were no problems with that.</description>
